A message from the Principal secretary /
‘Centre of PPP Excellence in the Country’
Kenya’s economic growth blueprint Vision 2030, aims for a globally competitive and prosperous country with a high quality of life for her citizens. Under the economic pillar of the Vision, infrastructure has been prioritized as a key enable of the vision. Our country must be a nation that firmly interconnected through a network of roads, railway, ports, airports, water ways and telecommunication. To achieve this feat, there needs to be a deliberate effort to increase private sector investments in infrastructure development to augment traditional government support for the sector.
Public Private Partnerships (PPP) represents a fundamental change in the way the Government and the private sector interact. The Public Private Partnership (PPP) Act, 2013 provides the legal pathway for this variation. We believe with a strong legal basis for this partnership will unlock many infrastructure projects in the country.
It is therefore my great pleasure for me to welcome you to this website of the PPP Unit of the National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya. This fairly comprehensive website intends to provide facts and information on the PPP market in the country, and to cater to the demands of the private sector, contracting authorities, and learners of the PPP practice.
Finally, I wish to reiterate the Government of Kenya’s commitment to infrastructure development as demonstrated by the numerous actions taken aimed at strengthening the legal and regulatory framework for PPPs in the country.
